MINSK(BelTA) – The Belarusian Peace Fund will establish an annual award Peacemaker of the Year, Chairman of the Belarusian Peace Fund Maksim Misko noted at the fund's sixth national conference on 12 December, BelTA informs.
“The annual national award Peacemaker of the Year will be bestowed as from 2018 in different nominations. The awards ceremonies will take place during the final sessions of the Belarusian Peace Fund. We plan to hold a contest for young people together with the Culture Ministry to design the special honorary sign which will be presented to the winners,” Maksim Misko remarked.
In his words, the Belarusian Peace Funde is scheduled to arrange a national public campaign in 2020. The fund plans to adopt the whole set of measures and events to promote peace, friendship, and concord in 2018-2020 at the next session of the board. Maksim Misko underlined that several tasks to strengthen international cooperation have been set for the fund for the next five years.
On 12 December, the fund's national conference brought together delegates from across Belarus, officials and public figures, representatives of executive and legislative bodies, ministries, heads of major confessions and partner organizations.
First Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Maksim Ryzhenkov awarded the Belarusian Peace Fund an honorary diploma of the administration for social work and contribution to strengthening peace.
During the conference, the board of the public association was elected for another five years. Maksim Misko was reelected the fund's chairman.
The Belarusian Peace Funde carries out programs to strengthen peace, friendship, mutual understanding, and concord between people and nations, promote and turn into reality the ideas of mercy and humanism, support gifted young people, provide material assistance to the most vulnerable part of the population, labor and war veterans, help repair and restore monuments, obelisks, graves of soldiers and partisans. The fund also implements environmental projects and takes part in other charity events. The public association comprises around 15,000 active members. This number is growing year by year.
